Lightweight Flexible formwork system
for working efficiently
The former town swimming pool in the centre of the old part of Ulm was given a new use. The Art Nouveau swimming pool, rich in tradition, provided a new home for a youth music school. The new concept required the building to be gutted out, for which a lightweight formwork system, transportable by hand was used that enabled the work to be carried out economically.

After breaking out several floors only parts of the façade walls remained standing. Lightweight aluminium HD 200 heavy duty props were erected both horizontally and vertically for securing the building against collapse. These props are characterised by their lightweight and high loading capacity. The erection was made without any special tools.
The site team gained good experience in the foundation area with the lightweight DOMINO. The foundations could be formed completely with system components; no site adjustments were necessary.
TRIO-L Alu was used for the walls of the future practise rooms. The 270 x 90 cm units could be quickly extended by hand with 90 x 120 cm units (33 kg) for the concreting height of 3.30 m. The units were connected by only one part, the BFD alignment coupler, as with TRIO steel and TRIO 330.
The low number of props for SKYDECK – 3.45 m² of slab area can be supported by one prop – reduced the time-consuming element of the slab formwork, and as all components could be taken to their place of use by hand, their light weight was especially advantageous. The slab could therefore also be formed quickly and tirelessly.

The risk of costs through the unforeseen imponderables of this renovation work was high. At least the estimatable factors could be determined as best as possible here through the choice of optimum formwork and scaffolding systems for each area. |
