Mercedes Benz Office Building and Showroom, Munich, Germany
At the Right Time and with the Optimal Quantity of Materials The Efficient Formwork Solution for Each Building Segment
In line with the newly extended Mercedes-Benz product ranges, an “innovative and sympathetic world of brands” is being created in Munich''s Arnulfstrasse, “which takes account of changing trends in society”, according to the owner. Around 500 employees are based here on the 21,000 m² property with the 15-storey administration centre providing 75,000 m² working space. Approx. 500 vehicles are on display in large showrooms on four levels.
An enormous amount of formwork components was required by the contractors for the construction of this imposing structure. This was mainly caused by late planning changes, while at the same time the completion deadlines were left unchanged. Almost all formwork systems from the PERI product range were used in the project and excellent results regarding functionality and quality were achieved in all areas.
PERI also supplied custom formwork such as the trapezoidal-shaped tables for the slabs of the elliptical, 65 m high office tower. A special feature here was the slab above the fourth floor: designed as a load distribution slab, it carries the loads from floors above and transfers these to the foundations via the core and columns. The conditions during construction made it necessary that part of the support was in use for long periods and could not be moved. In addition, due to the short construction time, the tables had to be supplied 1.5 times over.
