PERI QUATTRO – adaptable unit used to form three differently sized columns
The Ministry of Defence has invested in this multi use administration block to replace outdated ancillary buildings at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
The choice of PERI as the formwork provider was determined by the requirement for a range of inter-related formwork systems to provide safe and speedy concreting and striking.
The need for flexibility, through easy and quick adjustment of the column formwork, was instrumental in the choice of the system. The same equipment could be used to form three differently sized columns on each floor, thereby avoiding the time and cost associated with making up different shutters for each size.

The floor pour programme dictated the column-casting sequence, but the 90 columns are being cast, on average, at the rate of three per day. They are produced around two weeks ahead of the floors. The new facility requirements building is an excellent example of what can be achieved when early discussions take place between experienced team members. |
