Coordinated formwork and scaffolding
use for complex construction progress
The Scala in Milan, the most famous opera house in the world, had to undergo fundamental restoration and modernisation work. Part of the building was under a preservation order and the historic structure underwent important restoration work.
On the other hand, the new construction and re-development project required more extensive measures.
The work focused on three main areas: an administration tract, the stage area tower with nine levels of rehearsal rooms and the eight-level stage facility section.
The contractors had to keep to an extremely tight schedule as well as implementing a very complex construction plan. Numerous overlapping work operations, various reinforced concrete constructions and different steel assemblies had to be coordinated together with providing reliable systems as well as safe working conditions for site personnel. For this, it was necessary to have the most suitable and efficient formwork and scaffolding systems available for each particular task as well as a constant dialogue between PERI engineers and the contractors. This combination of service and material deliveries was the key to problem-free construction progress.
