Swiss Embassy, Berlin, Germany
19 m high perimeter wall formed without ties and concreted in one pour
The historically protected Swiss Embassy building stood empty for almost 50 years and, because of the moving of the government, will now be used again as the seat of the Swiss representatives. Apart from the modernisation the renovation also demanded an extension to be built.
The architects gave the construction company an almost insolvable task. External façades and the western Relief façade were to be carried out without ties and in the highest fairfaced concrete quality. The PERI solution: a steel beam tank. The external formwork with horizontal walings was able to be tied to the internal formwork. The whole façade of 65 m in length and 18.86 m high was completely formed and concreted in one pour.

Concrete windows in the internal formwork were first closed when each floor was reached, for which the light-weight DOMINO units were used. |

The size of the steel-beam tank was based on a formwork pressure of 30 kN/m². 240m³ of concrete were poured into the formwork in 35 hours without interruption. |
