Entlisberg Tunnel, Zurich, Switzerland
Largest Swiss tunnel formwork: Self-propelling formwork carriage works exactly and saves time
An important part of the Zurich West bypass is an imposing double tunnel that will take altogether six lanes. Each of the two 16.20 m wide tunnel sections has two cross-sections. Rectangular tunnel cross-sections of various lengths connect to each side of the arched middle section that is 350 m long. The reason for this is the flat ground profile at the entrances.
The PERI Tunnel Specialists presented an accomplished formwork suggestion that, after the delivery of two formwork carriages, was implemented very well by the construction site. The use and interplay of the formwork carriages, based on standard PERI components, was planned to save the maximum time in the working sequence.
As the carriages were easy to operate – the formwork is lowered hydraulically and moved by electric motors – the site could smoothly construct double 28 cycles in the middle arched area, and double 5 and 13 cycles with rectangular cross-sections.
